YOU WERE TAUGHT TO BE SMALL.
LET’S CHANGE THAT

Life Can Be Different

Words for the women who feel like too much—and not enough at the same time

I write about the hidden forces shaping our lives—social conditioning, neurodivergence, and the quiet expectations that keep women small. Through personal reflections, psychology-informed insights, and practical shifts, I help women unlearn what’s holding them back, reclaim their time and energy, and step into a life that’s truly theirs.

WELCOME!

Hi, I'm Emma, and I've always felt I didn't fit in.

In my late 30s, after a difficult divorce, I found myself on a decade-long journey of unlearning—shedding the expectations, conditioning, and quiet rules that had shaped my life.

Balancing single motherhood, work, and academic study, I earned two psychology degrees and coaching qualifications, grounding myself in the science of psychology, positive psychology, and human behaviour. But the real breakthroughs weren’t just academic—they were personal as I began to realise how much I had been shaped by expectations I never chose.

As I navigated this process of unlearning, a super-late ADHD diagnosis (and a pending autism diagnosis) continued to reframe how I saw myself and my experiences. That, along with living with a chronic illness since my 20s, deepened my understanding of self-compassion, fairness, and the invisible cost of constantly adapting to a world that wasn’t built for me.

I write about the forces shaping our lives—the social conditioning that keeps women small, the exhaustion of masking, and the radical act of choosing yourself. If you’ve ever felt like too much and not enough at the same time, you’re not alone.

This is a space for honesty, reflection, and rewriting the stories we’ve been given. I’m here to share my journey—and, hopefully, help you make sense of yours.

Kind Words

  • A big weight has come off my shoulders

By sharing practical tools to try on and your advice, I managed to push myself a bit further each day and enhance my personal growth. Thank you so much for your time! It really gave me that permission I needed for a while to accept who I am, be braver and bolder with my boundaries and decisions.

  • I can't say enough about my experience with Emma

Working with Emma is truly a case of getting out all that you put into your sessions together; for me, they acted as a form of guidance rather than a decision-making process. It was effortless to break through my barriers to establish habitual trains of thought that were impacting my life.

  • I feel more empowered

Emma gave me reassurance that it is ok to put myself first; shared practical tools with me to imply in my real-life situations and also reassured me that nothing bad would happen if I came out of my comfort zone and face my fears. I am really appreciative of the tools that you shared with me to help me improve.
